If you are looking to build a better cardio vascular system, burn fat and increase your over all metabolism stop walking for hours on end. In fact some people who exercise excessively can store cortical which in turns helps in storing more fat.

Yep, you’ve read that right. You can cut your aerobic exercise time down in half if apply the correct principals. Studies show that if you are a for example a walker it takes between 40 minutes and 60 minutes to burn fat. What happens before that time period you burn blood sugar (glucose) first, then you will begin to burn stored sugar (glycogen) then when all that runs out you then begin to burn fat. So for some people who don’t have the time to put in 45 minutes to an hour per day I have a way out for you.

The key to get into burning the glycogen faster is to get yourself into an anaerobic state as fast as you can. Anaerobic meaning without oxygen, forces your body to rev up the metabolism. The key to fitness is after you’ve done your workout when you are sleeping.

So let’s just say you are a runner. You go out for a run for a few miles. The key to improving your fitness and fat burning capabilities is to do the following. Start off with a pace that you are comfortable with that is just below the rate of “huffing and puffing.” Set this as your original pace – then pick an area to run faster for a short period of time. Example, light pole to light pole, a couple of blocks, or a given time if you are wearing a watch. In the time or distance that you set go as hard as you can and when it is over come back down to your original pace and hold that until your heart normalizes to where it was when you set the original pace. Then go again, over and over until you’ve finished.

The key is not picking up the pace that is important it’s coming off of the sprint to your original pace and hold it there. When you do this you force the body to create enzymes that help build your metabolism much better which helps you burn more fat more efficiently. In fact, most of the metabolism building goes on after wards mainly when you sleep.

Try this as a new workout and see how it works for you. I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the results.
